Thanks for this piece of Charras. I lived in Courbevoie with my family for five years from 2002 until 2007. According to other friends still living there, I hear that it's changing and becoming a pretty hip place to live. :) For the majority of my time living there, I rarely spent time in Charras unless I was headed for a doctor's appointment or a quick shopping excursion at Champion, but how you describe it for the most part, is exactly how I remember it. However, I can say that I did have at least one memorable moment on that rooftop play area. One day, I was playing a game of tag with my husband and children and collided headfirst at full speed with one of those metal lamps! I ended up in the emergency room and got five stitches for my trouble. Call me incredibly clumsy, and I am admittedly, but at least the experience was unforgettable. :)

Some funny note on the graffiti inscription: "gare aux gorilles" means "beware of the gorilas" but also "the gorilas' (train) station". "Gare au gorille" was a popular song by French singer George Brassens (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=qYWyQn50Mto#!).

But "gare aux gorilles" was also the name of a now-closed squat at the 1, avenue Corentin Cariou, some two years ago. The squat was organized inside an abandoned train station, whose nearby walls were also covered by Zoo Project graffiti.

Peter: As you cross the Pont Garigliano from the right bank to the left bank, it would have been just on the right-hand side. As far as I can work out from the sketches, it would have been roughly where there are some Safran offices today. I guess it would have contained roughly the pieces that are on display at Le Bourget today. I can't find any information on whether other architects made any propositions for the proposed museum though, nor why the project was cancelled, so if anyone comes across anything, please let me know!
