Yes true, Philippe Starck was the decorator and made a fantastic job at a reasonable cost. Keith haring loved the shop and made a mural of almost 4x3m that costed so little that few will believe Jacquesnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7725154806633928919.post-39942738316664513972014-03-23T04:23:12.411+01:002014-03-23T04:23:12.411+01:00I remember well Jouets & Cie on boulevard de S...I remember well Jouets & Cie on boulevard de Sebastopol and its beautiful glass facade and the giant baby. It was one of the great early Starck design in the area with the café Costes, both now gone. I'm so glad the baby survived, although living a less glamorous life...Francoisnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7725154806633928919.post-41651602092546839472014-03-17T12:35:41.795+01:002014-03-17T12:35:41.795+01:00Marc: I think the fact that the shop purchased a S...Marc: I think the fact that the shop purchased a Starck and a Keith Haring was surely a 'folie de grandeur', rather typical of the mid 80s. The fact that no-one seems to have even heard of the shop is also a sure sign that it didn't do enough business to justify these purchases!Adamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06453626318828119830noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7725154806633928919.post-54443231314988333502014-03-16T16:17:51.787+01:002014-03-16T16:17:51.787+01:00Sorry spelling; New keyboard!Sorry spelling; New keyboard!Marc pielnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7725154806633928919.post-39328697485681958762014-03-16T15:50:29.754+01:002014-03-16T15:50:29.754+01:00Interesting that a creation of the great Phipippe ...Interesting that a creation of the great Phipippe Starck didńt save the store from going broke. I found the baby on Google Earth, too, and you can see it in Street View quite well - but apparently Google's privacy algorithm thought the baby might cherish its privacy, because the face is pixellated - though not the rest of its naked baby body.Terryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15805115670543125139noreply@blogger.com
